Mega Passes
Mega Passes for the Groves Pecan Festival carnival rides can be purchased at the Groves Chamber Office, 4399 Main Ave. in Groves on:
Monday, October 17th – Thursday, October 20th, 3:30 - 7 p.m.             
Saturday, October 22nd, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Monday, October 24th - Thursday, October 27th, 3:30 - 7 p.m.
Saturday, October 29th, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Monday October 31st, 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 1st, 3:30 - 8 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 2nd, 3:30 - 8 p.m.
Children must be present to have pictures taken for the Passes.  The Mega Passes can be purchased for $35.00 each, which will entitle the bearer to ride unlimited rides during the festival beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2016 and ends at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2016. The festival runs from Thursday, November 3rd through Sunday, November 6th. The Groves Pecan Festival Carnival opens at 5:00 p.m. in Lion’s Park on Thursday, November 3rd, with the craft and food booths opening at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4th. Additionally, there will be entertainment and events which will run throughout the weekend.  Lion’s Park is located at 6200 Jackson.  There is no charge for admission.
Carnival Ride Arm Bands will be available on Thursday, November 3rd for the price of $22.00 and for Friday, November 4th for the price of $25.00. Arm Bands will also be available for Saturday, November 5th. The price will be $25.00 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and $25.00 from 5:00 p.m. to close or you may purchase an ALL-DAY Arm Band for $35.00. On Sunday, November 6th, Arm Bands will be available for $25.00 from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m.  This will allow an Arm Band holder to ride on the day of purchase. Arm Bands will be on sale in the carnival area at the ticket booth in Lion’s Park. Arm Band Sponsors are: Thursday night – MARKET BASKET, Friday night – Groves Dairy Queen, and Saturday night – Gulf Credit Union.
The 2nd Annual Tour de Groves Bike Ride will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016. The event will start at the corner of Jefferson & Lincoln Ave. in front of Celebration Park. This is a family-friendly neighborhood bike ride with a 20, 9, and a 5 mile route. The 20-milers will begin at 8:00 am with the 9-mile and 5-mile riders beginning at 8:15 am. Registration is open on…/races/tour-de-groves-2016 or registration forms are available at the Groves Chamber of Commerce & Tourist Center office, 4399 Main Ave., Groves, at Kickstand Bike Shop in Beaumont at 6366 Phelan Blvd, or at Groves Café at 6039  39th Street in Groves, TX. All proceeds will be donated to the Groves Senior Citizen Center. ALL RIDERS MUST WEAR A BIKE HELMENT. Starting on Monday, October 31st, the Groves Pecan Festival Treasure Hunt will begin. Clues will appear on the “Groves Pecan Festival” Facebook page at 7:00 PM on Monday thru Saturday with clues running in The Port Arthur News all week long. Clues will also be posted in the Chamber porch window beginning on Monday at 7:00 PM. Hunters can find daily Golden Pecans worth $50 and there will be a grand prize of $400. This year’s sponsor will once again be Levingston Funeral Home.
The treasure is hidden in the city limits of Groves and no digging or destruction of property is needed to find it. The treasure is also not hidden on private property. PLEASE NOTE: The treasure IS NOT located in the Horseshoe Pit in Lion’s Park.
If you think you have found the Golden Pecan and/or the Grand Prize, take it to the Groves Chamber office at 4399 Main Ave. through Thursday, November 3rd or to the Chamber of Commerce booth on the festival grounds Friday – Sunday, November 4th – 6th, for validation. If what you have found is confirmed, you will receive the award for finding the prize. ALL Golden Pecans and/or the Grand Prize which have NOT been turned into the Groves Chamber of Commerce before 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 6th WILL BE DECLARED NULL AND VOID.

The Groves Pecan Festival Photo/Art Contest applications can be obtained and entries can be turned in beginning on Monday, October 3rd. Applications to enter this event may be obtained at Groves Café & Coffee Bar located at 6039 39th St., or the Groves Chamber of Commerce office located at 4399 Main Ave. The entry deadline for all entries to be turned in is Wednesday, October 26, 2016. The Awards Reception will be held Tuesday, November 1st, at 7:00 p.m. at Groves Café & Coffee Bar located at 6039 39th St. Entry fee will be $5.00 p er entry, with a 3 Photo/Artwork entry limit per person. Entries for the Photo Contest must be an 8 X 10 matted photo. Entries for the Art Contest must be on a no-larger-than 16 X 20 canvas. This year’s Photo/Artwork must be submitted WITHOUT frames.  Photos/Artwork must be appropriate for public viewing, and only original Photos/Artwork will be accepted. Only one entry per category will be allowed to place in the awards. First Place, Second Place, Third Place and a Robert Pastorella Sr. People’s Choice Award will be chosen for all four divisions. This year’s musical entertainment will get started at 5:30 p.m. on Friday evening with Music by Beau Wilson of Electrifying Sounds DJ Service. Then at 7:30 p.m., the duo of Curse and the Cure will perform. On Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m., the Lamar Jazz Band will entertain festival goers. Then at 7:30 p.m., rounding out the musical guest for the festival weekend will be the Champagne Room who will perform a mix of Motown, R&B, Funk, and Hip Hop making everyone want to get up and dance. Entertainment Sponsors are BASF TOTAL Petrochemicals LLC, and Groves Equipment Rental Co., Inc.
The Horseshoe Tournament - will be held in Lion’s Park, located at 6200 Jackson, on Sunday, November 6th.  Entry fees will be $30 for the Doubles Horseshoe Tournament and $10 for Singles. The Doubles Horseshoe Tournament will begin at 1:00 PM, with Singles to follow Doubles. Sign-up begins 1 hour prior to start time. The Groves Pecan Festival Parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5th. Line up will begin at 8:30 a.m. by entering from Terrell Street onto Cleveland Avenue. The parade begins at 39th St. at Cleveland Ave., heads west on 39th St.  Then travels down 39th St. to Gulf Ave. where the parade ends after making a right turn on Gulf Ave. Parade sponsor is Philpott Ford. The Chairperson is Kyle Hollier.
The Pie Eating Contest, sponsored by Merle Norman & Bella Boutique and Classic Forms, will be Saturday, November 5th, at 1:00 p.m. at Lion’s Park in the Center Tent area.
The Cooking with Pecans Contest, sponsored by Oak Grove Nursing Home and Julian Salter Insurance Company will be held on Saturday, November 5th. Entries will be accepted at the Center Tent on the festival grounds from 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Judging begins at 4:30 p.m. with winners being announced at the festival stage area at 7:00 p.m.  Entry forms will be available at the Chamber booth on the festival grounds until noon on Saturday, November 5th.
The Groves Pecan Festival Pet Show, sponsored by Wilcox Veterinary Clinic, will be Sunday, November 6th, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lee Rodgers Pavilion located in Lion’s Park. Pet Show registration begins at 12 noon. The Chairperson is Carol Sigona.
